The Osceola Library System now offers downloadable audiobooks!
After visiting your local Library location to register, you can download audiobooks from any computer connected to the Web and running Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher.
The audiobooks can be played directly from the computer or transferred to a portable listening device such as an MP3 player.
Checkouts
1. Audiobooks are checked out for 21 days (Tip: One renewal available for additional 21 days)
2. A total of 10 audiobooks can be checked out at one time
3. After reaching the 10-audiobook limit, new titles will not be able to be downloaded until the license for each of the current downloaded audiobooks expires
4. Audiobooks CANNOT be returned early
Create an Account
To download and listen to audiobooks, the customer must visit the Library—in person—to create a user account.
After creating the account, customers may download audiobooks through the Library’s web page from any computer with Web access and Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher.
Tip: Make sure that Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher is installed before starting the download process.
Searching for an Audiobook
1. Go to
Netlibrary.com
2. Enter the title or author or keyword in the Basic Search box
3. Click the radio button next to keyword, author, title, or full-text
4. Click Search
Tip: Customers can also view the entire collection of available audiobooks by clicking the What’s Available Tab
Checkout and Play an Audiobook
1. Choose a title from the Search Results list
2. Click Download this Audiobook
3. Select the preferred download option (Tip: CD quality must be selected in order to transfer the audiobook to a portable device)
4. Login with your username and password (Tip: You must visit the Library to receive your username and password)
5. Click Save in the File Download dialog box
6. Make note of where the downloadable audiobook file was saved
7. Double-click the saved audiobook file on the computer
8. Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher will launch and the audiobook will start playing
Renewing an Audiobook
1. Go to
Netlibrary.com
2. Login with your username and password
3. Click My Checked Out Items link
4. Click Download this Audiobook link under the title to renew
5. Click Renew your checkout for 21 days
