Young authors were invited to submit original works of up to 1000 words to be judged by a panel of published authors (the Y.A.Chicks: Vivi Barnes, Christina Farley, and Amy Christine Parker). The judges presented a discussion on elements of good writing and creating complex characters after which we listened to the readings of our Lit Mag winners. Their works were the highlight of the afternoon.
We were blown away by the outstanding talent evident in the poems and stories submitted by our young writers. Also impressive were the subjects these writers chose to tackle as they bravely spoke out about gender, race, love, death, and identity. These are voices of the future, and it's our pleasure to give them the spotlight they deserve.
