Cooking Matters for Kids

Children will enjoy a series of 6 cooking classes offering a chance to gain skills in the kitchen while also learning about nutrition and food safety. Ages 8 and up. Due to limited supplies, each class will be limited to 15 spots. Please register each participating child.

 

The program is instructed by Esther Oyola, Program Assistant of the University of Florida IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program.

 

If you require special accommodations, such as interpreter services for the deaf or hard of hearing, please contact FNP at 321-697-3000 at least 4 days before the program begins.

Central Writers Group: Get Me Out of Here!

Bring paper and pen, or your laptop to begin with a brief lesson and writing prompt exercises, followed by time to share your work with feedback from peers. Ages 16 and up. Participants will choose a situation and setting, then place a character there for whom this environment would be the worst ever.

Namaste! StorYoga

Children of all ages can benefit from a little stretching, breathing, and movement. Yoga poses are easily modified to meet any needs or limitations people may have. Anything you can do to tie fitness to an engaging story in some way is always beneficial. Participants should wear comfy, stretchy clothes and bring your own mat or towel.

Book Wyrms: Dungeons & Dragons

Roll up some fun with Dungeons & Dragons Gaming!  Have fun using your imagination and problem-solving skills while meeting and socializing with others who enjoy role-playing games.  All playing materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own dice and/or D&D 5th Edition Character Sheet.

Rise Up!

More than a woke book club, this is your chance to discuss issues important to you, challenge your own perspective, and earn volunteer hours by helping your library and your community. Teens (13-18) choose from a list of diversity-focused books, meet for in-depth discussion, and will set goals for making a difference.
