Are you looking for a place to donate your collection? Bring items to any branch location in the Osceola Library System!

Donations become the property of the Library and cannot be returned to the owner. Donation items are evaluated and will be:

  • Added to the Library’s Courtesy Collection
  • Utilized in conjunction with Library programming or outreach
  • Donated to another community partner organization

Donations to the Library are tax deductible, without a dollar value, and may be acknowledged for tax purposes. The Library will provide a written receipt of donations.

What donations are accepted? What donations are not accepted?

Donations Accepted:

  • Books
  • Audiobooks
  • DVDs
  • CDs

Donations Not Accepted:

  • Books that are dirty, moldy, water damaged or contain excessive writing or highlighting
  • Textbooks
  • Encyclopedias
  • Magazines
  • Homemade copies of any type of media or commercial software that is not packaged with a book

All donated materials must be in good/working condition.

How can I recommend a title for purchase?

Patrons desiring the Library to purchase materials may submit a Request for Purchase. The Library attempts to purchase all Requests for Purchase that meet the Collection Development Policy and are available via our preferred vendors.

I'm a local author in Florida and I want to donate my book to the Library. How do I go about that?

Memorial Books

Honor a special person or occasion with a Memorial Book. When you provide a donation of $25 or more, a special person is honored with the inclusion of a book in the Library’s collection. A bookplate with inscription will be placed in the front of the book purchased.

The Memorial Book can reflect the personal interests or favorite authors. Library staff will select an appropriate title or you can make a recommendation.

The Library will provide a letter acknowledging your generous gift, along with a picture confirming the purchase of the Memorial book.

Completed form can be mailed to the Osceola Library System c/o Memorial Books, Hart Memorial Central Library, 211 East Dakin Avenue, Kissimmee, FL 34741 or dropped off at the Service Desk.

Payment may be by Check or Credit Card.

Checks should be payable to Osceola County Board of County Commissioners.

    Friends of the Library

    Branch locations pass donations along to the Osceola Friends of the Library. The Friends sell the iems in their multiple book sales throughout the year. Proceeds made in these book sales go back to the Library to support programs and services.

    Courtesy Collection

    Courtesy Collections are available within all of the Library’s branch locations. There are also Courtesy Collections in:

    • Give Kids the World Village
    • Cameron Preserves Apartments
    • Kissimmee Chambers Park Community Center
    • Island H20 Water Park
    • FirePALS with St. Cloud Fire Rescue
    • Osceola County Corrections Department
    • Backlot Apartments in Kissimmee

    Materials in Courtesy Collections are free to use and check-out any time! No library card is required. Be sure to bring the material back for other people to use.
