Originally from Brooklyn, NYC, Grey Sturgill didn’t focus on art until high school. She began her art experience as an  Art Major at Prospect Heights HS during her junior year and a summer of study at the former “Studio O” art collective which started her on the path of exploring different art mediums.  Over the years Grey has explored and very much enjoyed the areas’ of etching/printmaking, copper relief, yarn fiber crafts of knitting & crochet, and painting. She has completed studies in Architectural Drafting, and Graphics Printing.

“Dream Doodles Cosmology” Doodles are [my] freehand, free thoughts and any direction drawings with no specific patterns, designs, or desired outcome. Whatever line lineation however the pen wanders which produces the finished composition. Dream doodles allow for any interpretation(s) as perceived by the observer. Some compositions demonstrate elements of cosmic, geometric, and architectural forms. While others vibrate to aerial views simulating cityscapes, skyscrapers, and the night lights of a high-tech metropolitan city. Dream doodling invigorates easy thinking, from simplistic to intricately detailed illustrations. Dream doodling is another method to feed and free the imagination. Some compositions demonstrate elements of cosmic, geometric, and architectural forms.

Poinciana Library

This exhibit is on display from Saturday, February 24 – Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Rick Arnold’s journey into art, sparked by his fascination with Saturday morning cartoon superheroes, has evolved into a profound expression of the human experience. His passion for art shines through in various mediums, including graphite pencils, charcoal, colored pencil drawings, and pastels.

The characters in his realistic drawings serve as vessels for conveying themes of resilience, strength, and human emotion. With meticulous attention to detail, Arnold brings to life scenes from his own experiences, celebrating the joys of life and precious moments with people. His artistic journey extends beyond personal narratives to encompass depictions of heroic figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Tina Turner, and others, capturing their journeys with precision.

Arnold’s artwork becomes a window into the complexities of the human experience. Viewers are prompted to pause and reflect, connecting with the emotions of each portrayed individual. His creations invoke a sense of pride in family, resilience, love, and the concept of black excellence. Through his depictions of the innocence of a child and the confidence exuded by various figures, Arnold’s art becomes a celebration of diverse aspects of the human spirit.

Ultimately, Rick Arnold’s artistic endeavors serve as a testament to the power of visual storytelling. His work not only captures moments in time but also invites viewers to engage with the broader themes of life, love, and the pursuit of excellence.”I have always been drawn to the power of art as a means of expression.

“Through my drawings, I strive to capture the intricacies of the world around me, from the smallest details to the grandest of events. Each piece is a reflection of my journey through life, as a man and an artist, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.”
