National Novel Writing Month is officially here! The Osceola Library System has some great programs for youth and adults to inspire creativity and give help in any writing journey. Here are the following programs for NaNoWriMo:

All November: The Write Stuff

Submit your original short story or poem for a chance to win! Choose from one of the five prompts below and write a short story or poem in the genre of your choice:

1. A strange spaceship just crash-landed in your character’s backyard.
2. Come up with your own supervillain and write their origin story.
3. Your characters discover a magic portal in the park. Where does it lead?
4. There’s an old, abandoned house at the end of your street that’s been empty for years. One day, someone moves in.
5. You find an old notebook hidden in an attic. What does it say? Who did it belong to?

All entries will be divided into 4 age categories (Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12) and reviewed by the Osceola Library System Youth Services team. One winner will be chosen from each age category. All other eligible entries will be included on BiblioBoard within Osceola Library’s Community Collections.

Online submissions will be accepted during the month of November and can be up to 4,500 words in length. No submissions will be accepted after November 30, 2023. Please submit your original piece of fiction or poetry via Biblioboard or Youth Staff member.
